Subcommittee on Mineral Acquisitions and Distribution

  • E. K. Graham

Experimentalists engaged in mineral physics research often face the problem of obtaining high-quality synthetic specimens for their work. Moreover, although there presently exists in the literature a wide range of excellent mineral, physical, and chemical property data, only in a very few instances can one find accurate sets of data for a wide range of properties from a single well-characterized reference mineral. In recognition of these problems with resources for synthetic mineral specimens, the AGU Committee on Mineral Physics, at its meeting in December 1984, has established a Subcommittee on Mineral Acquisitions and Distribution.
