Abstract

The Centre for Remote Sensing was founded at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, in London, in 1983 to serve as a focus for the teaching and research activities on remote sensing at the college. The interests at Imperial College cover a wide range of disciplines including earth resources, land use, geology, atmospheric physics, oceanography and planetary studies. There are also major activities in a number of image processing applications in scientific topics and industrial problems, which has led to a major interest in pattern recognition.
