Metals in the Hydrocycle

Authors

Abstract

The authors state in the introduction that their purpose is to “give an account of the presently available knowledge on the movement of trace metals along the hydrologic cycle, emphasizing the processes.” In order to do this, they have divided the book into two parts. In the first part (chapters 2 and 3) they provide an overview of processes affecting speciation, adsorption/desorption, and diagenesis of trace metals. In the second part of the book, metal behavior in various environmental regimes (atmosphere, continental waters, estuarine and coastal waters, the ocean) is discussed.
