Abstract

The 1100-member Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG), an interdisciplinary professional development organization that is open to all in the geosciences, conducted a nationwide survey of geoscientists in late 1983. The survey was the first to examine the training, employment, and lifestyle of women in the geosciences. The questionnaire asked about education and current work situations, about experiences in combining personal life and career, and about attitudes on women's issues, political issues, and environmental issues.
