Abstract

The Department of Oceanography at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va., has recently received a bequest of $8.4 million from the estate of Fay M. Slover. The new funds will be used to support five new positions in the subdiscipline of physical oceanography, 10 student fellowships, and a visiting scholar program, as well as to provide essential equipment. The department will form a panel of outside scientific advisors to assist in planning for the effective use of the contribution.
