Ground Movements and Their Effects on Structures

This is a source book on the topic of both natural and man-induced ground motions that are of concern in engineering. It addresses a need that most practitioners of engineering have for a detailed guide to this subject. The book is multi-authored, with contributions from 19 specialists. It is multinational in a limited sense: Two of the authors are with Dames and Moore in San Francisco, while the rest work in the United Kingdom. Their specializations include a very good mix of mining engineering, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, engineering geology, and engineering seismology. The book is timely because no other book addresses this important subject with such a breadth of expertise and in the light of present-day knowledge.
