Louisiana estuary loss reviewed

The state of Louisiana loses ∼80 km2 or about 1% of the state's coastal wetlands from its estuaries each year, according to Donald F. Boesch, executive director of the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium. Boesch was the cooordinator and a speaker at the seventh in a series of seminars on the nation's estuaries, sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Estuarine Programs Office, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of the Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service.
