Abstract

Rainer Uhrenbacher, a graduate student at the Institute of Geophysics of the University of Kiel, Federal Republic of Germany, recently became AGU's 20,000th member. Uhrenbacher, who is currently on a fellowship from the Conrad Adenauer Stiftung, has been engaged in the German-Turkish Project on Earthquake Prediction Research since 1984. At present, he is in Turkey, carrying out magnetic, magnetotelluric, and self-potential measurements along a segment of the North Anatolian Fault Zone.

Before entering Kiel University, Uhrenbacher received his diploma degree from the University of Munich. His thesis was on gravimetric and geoelectric investigations in a special region of southern Germany.
