Abstract

The Spring Meeting was considerably larger than last year (1986), with an increase of almost 150 papers presented and attendance of 2577. It appeared that there was considerably less crowding in the meeting rooms, mainly because we avoided using some of the very small rooms in the Convention Center. A corollary of this was that the poster sessions were placed away from the refreshments and exhibits and placed in some of the very small rooms. We will await results of the questionnaire before deciding whether this was deemed a success, but verbal expressions ranged from highly positive to very condemnatory, as might be expected for any significant change.
