Abstract

Terrie J. Fairgrieves, an undergraduate student at Northern Illinois University (in De Kalb), has been selected as the recipient of the 1987 June Bacon-Bercey Scholarship for Women in Atmospheric Sciences. The scholarship, which is administered by AGU, is provided through a gift from noted meteorologist June Bacon-Bercey.

Fairgrieves, who will receive her B.S. degree in meteorology in December 1987, has been accepted for graduate study at three universities but has not yet made her final choice. For the last three semesters, she has been a teaching assistant, working both as a laboratory instructor and as a forecaster in brief weather discussions for an introductory course in atmospheric sciences. She is currently working under a National Science Foundation grant to test McIDAS software on atmospheric data access through the UNIDATA network and will be incorporating this software into courses for the 1987 fall semester.
