Abstract

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is presenting a symposium entitled “Data Analysis Procedures for Trace Constituents and Toxic Compounds” as part of its 196th National Meeting in Los Angeles, Calif., September 25–30, 1988. Studies of trace constituents and toxic compounds often require statistical procedures beyond those currently in routine use. Large proportions of observations may be below detection limit or reporting thresholds, distributions of data are far from the classically assumed normal distribution, and interpretations may be desired over a multivariate suite of organic or inorganic constituents. This symposium will present applications of data analysis procedures that are appropriate for the interpretation of data having such characteristics.
