Lectureships and research opportunities in the environmental sciences in Eastern Europe are now available through the Fulbright Scholars program. The awards are for scientists who are interested in lecturing for one or both semesters of the 1989–1990 academic year in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Poland, U.S.S.R., or Yugoslavia. Research awards are also available, and lectures may be given in English. The topics that are of particular interest vary from country to country; they range from the economics of environmental protection and the development of the continental shelf to wastewater treatment technology and atmospheric pollution. Some awards will be given for work in any scientific field.
