The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research will continue to offer to visiting scientists opportunities in atmospheric and related sciences at two centers for operational weather prediction for research: the Naval Environmental Prediction and Research Facility (NEPRF) and NOAA's National Meteorological Center (NMC).
Research at NEPRF, in Monterey, Calif., is aimed at improving weather analysis and prediction for U.S. Navy operations. Studies cover a range of phenomena related to atmosphere-ocean interactions, for example, planetary boundary layer interaction with clouds and radiation, prediction problems related to orography, fine-scale modeling in coastal regions, and statistical interpretation of model forecasts and remotely sensed data.
