Abstract

Redoubt volcano is about 200 km southwest of Anchorage, Alaska, on the west side of Cook Inlet. The current eruption began December 14 about 10 a.m. local time. In 5 minutes the eruption plume reached an altitude of 10.5 km. An explosion December 15 sent one plume of ash and steam to 12 km altitude and another to 8 km.
