Interlaboratory rock properties testing

  • Anonymous

The Institute for Standards Research (ISR) recently approved a research project submitted by the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Technical Committee D18 on Soil and Rock which involves an interlaboratory testing program to establish measures of precision for some of the most important published rock property standard test methods. The precision data generated by this program will ultimately strengthen these tests and several others yet to be determined in a variety of applications such as the design, construction, and monitoring of tunnels and shafts, dam foundations, repositories in rocks for nuclear waste, underground chambers for energy storage, and geotechnical energy recovery.
