Sessions on chaos and fractals, Earth science and society, and a 1-day short course highlighted AGU's Spring 1990 meeting held in Baltimore from May 29'June 1. The meeting week started on Memorial Day with a short course on Dynamical Systems in Geoscience: Fractals and Chaos, organized by Anastasios Tsonis and Don Turcotte. They presented 5 hours of lectures on basic concepts and applications in atmospheric sciences and solid earth geophysics. The course attracted 170 people.
