A new AGU award has been established to recognize the “unsung” people who through their roles as facilitators and coordinators contribute to the advancement of scientific research. The award is named for the late Edward A. Flinn III in honor of his exemplary service to the worldwide geophysics community.

The first Flinn Award will be presented at the 1991 Spring Meeting banquet in Baltimore. Nominations of candidates should be sent by February 1 to Sean Solomon, Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA 02139.
