Space science strategy

While much of the future of planetary science may be in the hands of the new Republican Congress, which convened last week, the National Research Council (NRC) has released their own plan for the next 15 years. Called “An Integrated Strategy for the Planetary Sciences: 1005–2010,” the new report says that the “most useful new programs to emphasize” during the next 15 years are detailed investigations of comets, Mars, and Jupiter and an intensive search for, and characterization of, extrasolar planets.
