Abstract

Less money and more cuts are what U.S. science agencies can expect to receive as a result of the Republican “Contract with America,” according to U.S. Rep. Robert S. Walker (R-Pa.), the new chairman of the recently renamed House Committee on Science.

Although the news was not surprising, it was also not what key agency heads wanted to hear from Walker at a January 6 hearing that kicked off discussions of science funding in the 104th Congress.
