According to the Climate Prediction Center of the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), El Niño will not awaken this winter. Sea surface temperatures in the eastern tropical Pacific are at or below the norm and are expected to remain so for the next 3–6 months, meaning that El Niño conditions are not likely to develop.
