Nominations for the Alan T. Waterman award are now being accepted. This award goes to an outstanding young researcher in any field of science or engineering funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Presented by the NSF and the National Science Board, the award is named in honor of the first director of the National Science Foundation. The 1997 award consists of a citation, a bronze medal, and a grant of $500,000 over a 3-year period for scientific research or study at the institution of the recipient's hoice.
