National assessment finds most U.S. water systems without violations

More than 90% of community water systems in the United States did not have any reported health violations according to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) first annual national assessment of drinking water system compliance, which was released in August.

The report is one of the public right-toknow provisions of Safe Drinking Water Act amendments of 1996; it is based on 1996 data provided by the states.
