A whole lotta shaking

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has just released a new set of maps that provides detailed information about the 31,196 earthquakes that have rattled the San Francisco Bay area in north-central California between 1967 and 1993.

The maps indicate magnitudes, epicenters, and depths of the earthquakes, as well as the direction of slip and orientation of the fault on which it occurs, among other information.
