In 1965, Frank Sinatra won the Grammy Award for his album, “September of My Years;” “Early Bird,” the first commercial communications satellite, was launched; and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was arrested in Selma, Alabama, during demonstrations against voter-registration rules.
The year 1965 was also the last time water levels in the U.S. Great Lakes were as low as they are now.
