Abstract

The American Fisheries Society (AFS), together with the National Sea Grant College Program Office (NSGO), National Marine Fisheries Service, AGU, and other co-sponsors have developed a program to benchmark scientific understanding of climatic influences on fish and fishery dynamics. The 2.5-year program will consist of symposia, workshops, published proceedings, a “Climate and Fisheries” Web site, and reports on information needs and policy issues.

An 18-month fellowship is an integral part of the program. The fellow, with guidance from a steering committee, will organize an international symposium, in conjunction with the AFS2001 Annual Meeting, to address climatological impacts on living aquatic resources. The closing date for applications is June 1, 2000.
