Wave support for ocean day resolution

While many scientists decry the lack of resources and attention for ocean research and conservation efforts in the United States, there is a good chance that oceans will soon receive at least a symbolic day in the Sun each year in the U.S.

By a vote of 387-28, the U.S. House of Representatives on July 11 adopted House Resolution 415, expressing the sense of that body that a National Ocean Day should be established “to recognize the significant role the ocean plays in the lives of the nation's people, and the important role the nation's people must play in the continued life of the ocean.”
