Abstract

A newly released, first-ever US. national assessment on climate change and variability warns about how greenhouse gases might affect human and natural systems in different regions throughout the country, and also suggests that policy makers and the public consider feasible adaptation strategies to cope with potential changes in the United States.

Anticipated effects of climate change in the United States include increased warming that could lead to varying regional impacts and significant problems concerning water resources, ecosystems, coastal areas, and other sectors.
