While the Bush administration continues to withhold from the public many details about its Climate Change Research Initiative (CCRI) and Climate Change Technology Initiative (CCTI), it is moving ahead with efforts to incorporate some key elements of these plans into federal agency planning for the upcoming fiscal year 2004 budget cycle.
The administration is trying ”on the fly” to identify key climate change priorities to consider, “so that by the end of the year, we will have a well-developed new program plan,” assistant secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere James Mahoney told a meeting of the National Academy of Sciences' Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (BASC) on 8 May.
