The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued its revised guidelines for voluntary reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, carbon sequestration, and emission reduction, the agency announced on 22 March.
DOE Secretary Samuel Bodman said the guidelines “represent another significant step in our broad national effort to reduce the greenhouse gas intensity of the U.S. economy, and address the risk of global climate change.” He added that the guidelines provide a transparent accounting system to encourage increased participation in voluntary efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a cost-effective manner.
