  • Paleomagnetism;
  • Pre-neogene palocomagnetic poles;
  • Proterozoic and paleozoic poles;
  • Russian plates;
  • Siberian plates

This paper contains a review of the contributions Soviet paleomagnetic researchers have made on three topics: synthesis of paleomagetic data on Russian and Siberian plates and surrounding areas; studies of events in tectonically active zones; and geodynamical characteristics of the paleomagnetic field. The review is followed by a complete table of pre-Neogene valid paleomagnetic poles from the territory of the USSR and key references for the period 1970–1979.
