The progress of the work for the establishment of a uniform world gravity system, initiated at the Fourth Assembly of the International Gravity Commission (Paris, September 1962) is described and illustrated on graphics. The measurements performed under this program since 1963 consist of observations by selected pendulums and groups of gravimeters along three primary calibration lines (Euro-African, American, and West Pacific) and of transverse pendulum and gravimeter connections between these lines. The completed observations are described and a tentative schedule is indicated for the additionally planned observations. Finally, the status of several portable absolute experiments that would contribute to the program for establishment of a new international absolute reference system is described.
