Summary

It is argued that a force-free magnetic field must be fed by field-aligned currents J and thus that J must be induced by divergence of J⟂ which is generated by a dynamo process in the photosphere and below. It is suggested that the kinetic energy of the neutral component flow in the photosphere is the ultimate source of energy for solar flares.
