Summary

In this paper a critical analysis has been made for interpretation of vector-magnetographic data by the line-ratio technique. Magnetic field strengths from lines FeI 5250.2 and 5247.1 Å are determined almost simultaneously, without showing the so-called “saturation effect” for a line with higher magnetic sensitivity. Analysis using a model of the two-component structure of the magnetic field indicates the possible existence of an inhomogeneous structure; however, it is not possible to estimate the filling factor and the inhomogeneous magnetic field strength (of magnetic network elements) because its effect in polarization signals is small as compared with the accuracy of measurements of the single-channel vector-magnetograph signals themselves.
