Wiener-Hopf solution for the junction between a smooth and a corrugated cylindrical waveguide

Abstract

The frequency behavior of the transition from a smooth to a corrugated cylindrical waveguide follows from the analysis of the canonical problem of the junction between two guides with different surface admittances, one being infinite and the other anisotropic. The Wiener-Hopf technique leads to an exact solution of this canonical problem and yields modal coupling coefficients expressed only in terms of the longitudinal wave numbers of the modes supported by each of the two guides. Typical numerical results are presented for a given value of the ratio between the inner and the outer radii of the corrugated guide.
