Wave propagation along a conductor in a low-conductivity seam

Abstract

The mode equation for wave propagation along a thin conductor wire located in a low-conductivity seam embedded between two more conducting half spaces is reduced to a transmission line formulation. The latter is particularly adequate for iterative solution. Numerical results are shown and discussed. Extension to leaky feeders and application to remote sensing of seam discontinuities are proposed.
