Inverse solution modeling of the complex-valued, frequency dependent electrical properties of natural geologic materials

Nature demands realistic models of the electrical behavior of (geo)physical materials in which the basic electromagnetic parameters are complex-valued and frequency dependent. The empirical Cole-Cole model for the permittivity and resistivity of materials is convenient as it presents a relatively simple mathematical formulation which can be modeled by a simple equivalent circuit. This model is observed to reliably fit several sets of electrical measurements. The inversion fitting of several broadband data sets yields electrical parameters which accurately describe the electrical properties of a material.
