Abstract

Some difficulties frequently encountered when dealing with the theory of electromagnetic waves are illustrated with the help of examples taken from the work of our laboratory. We also lay stress on some recent results and the appendix contains two propositions concerning the completeness of some sequences of functions often used to expand the electromagnetic fields.
