Abstract

Pathogenic microorganisms may evade rapid clearance by effectors of the immune system of the hosts they encounter, or they may subvert the regulatory pathways of the immune system of the hosts. These two processes are essential for microorganisms' fitness, transmissibility and perpetuation, the very essence of host-dependent/parasitic microorganisms.
