Immunoglobulins are widely used as research and diagnostic tools and for passive immunization and treatment of immunocompromised disease states. Most applications require purification of the immunoglobulins; for example, clinical-grade material must be of very high purity. The purification method of choice is dictated by the level of purity required and the intended use.
