Heat versus drugs in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia

This review article in the European Urology Update Series [1] made interesting and informative reading. However, in a review article with 56 references it was disappointing that the authors did not comment on the evidence that simulated transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) in randomized controlled double-blind clinical trials shows a large clinically relevant improvement in symptoms similar to that found with TUMT treatment itself [2]. It is disappointing that the authors chose to ignore results from clinical trials because they appear to show negative results.
