Abstract

Key Points

1. Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) is increasingly used for adults with end-stage liver disease.

2. Standards for acceptable rates of donor morbidity, and even mortality, must be evaluated in the context of recipient risk of dying while on the waiting list and outcome after transplantation.

3. Use of our current criteria in Colorado for selection of donors and recipients indicated that 15% of recipients could undergo LDLT.
