This chapter describes charge-coupled device (CCD) detectors. CCD detector assembly and calibration are described as well as the correction of data from CCD detectors. Integration of detector systems with hardware and data-acquisition software is covered and the use of CCD detectors in macromolecular crystallography is discussed.
