Greetings from the new Editor-in-Chief

Welcome to the Journal of Dermatology and greetings from the new Editor-in-Chief.

It is my great honor and pleasure to work as the sixth Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dermatology (JD), succeeding Professor Yoshiki Tokura. JD was established in 1974 as the official English-language journal of the Japanese Dermatological Association, which now comprises more than 11 000 dermatologists and skin researchers from Japan and other countries.

YearImpact factor of JD

Acquiring its first impact factor of 0.66 in 2004, JD has increasingly upgraded its value among the dermatological journals. During Professor Tokura's office-in-term, annual manuscript submissions have increased to more than 800 from 50 countries. The number of submitted manuscripts even continues to grow, further pushing up the impact factor to 1.493 in 2011. I would like to express my deep appreciation of the endeavors of former Editor-in-Chiefs, Editors, Associate Editor and Section Editors.

The editorial office of JD currently provides 33 Section Editors with different expertise, enabling a rapid but qualified review and decision-making process. The average time from submission to electrical publication is as short as 2 months.

The skin research field has been expanding and paid much attention from epidemiological, genetic, environmental and industrial points of view. The success of JD thoroughly depends on your contribution and support. Your active participation is greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to publishing your high-quality research and clinical articles and reviews in JD.
