Fig. S1. Maximum likelihood phylogeny of marine cyanobacterial groups Prochlorococcus and Synechococcus using 700 concatenated orthologous protein sequences. The tree was constructed using RAxML 7.0.4 software with the ‘PROTGAMMAWAGF’ model. Values at the nodes show the number of times the clade defined by that node appeared in the 100 bootstrapped datasets. The tree is rooted using Gloeobacter violaceus PCC 7421.
