We read with great interest the above article on faculty training in surgical specialties . As nicely mentioned in the manuscript most institutions place higher merit on clinical and research activities rather than teaching excellence. We fully agree with this observation. In fact, we feel that because of the pressure to publish the faculty is now focussed more on research.
The authors mention that rewards for good teaching abilities must be started. Our query for the authors is if the reward system exists anywhere in the field of medicine and secondly what award system the authors would recommend that would be objective and could be universally accepted.
