Welcome to Melbourne, home of the 2013 Prostate Cancer World Congress (PCWC) incorporating the 14th Australasian Prostate Cancer Conference. On behalf of our Global Scientific Committee and Local Organising Committee, we are delighted to welcome over 1000 delegates to the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition Centre for a global, multidisciplinary gathering of prostate cancer experts and care providers.
This year's PCWC features moderated poster sessions across our multidisciplinary streams. These sessions are greatly expanded from last year's format due to the large amount of high-quality submissions we have received. Our Global Scientific Committee has been very impressed with the quality of submissions received. From these, we have selected the following for poster presentation:
- 174 posters in total across all streams
- 78 Clinical Urology posters
- 72 Translational Science posters
- 34 Nursing & Allied Health
Abstracts have been submitted from 16 countries and we are delighted to partner with the BJUI to publish the accepted abstracts for this Congress for the first time. We are very grateful to Professor Prokar Dasgupta and all at the BJUI for supporting us this year and to all at Wiley-Blackwell for creating this beautiful supplement. All posters will be on display in the trade area throughout the Congress.
For the Clinical Urology Science streams, there will be parallel moderated poster sessions on the afternoon of Tuesday 6th August as follows:
- 1300–1330: Session 1: Poster viewing (Trade Area) for Clinical Urology I and II. Lunch will be available.
- 1330–1500: Session 1: Moderated Poster presentations for Clinical Urology I and II (two rooms running in parallel).
- 1500–1530: Session 2: Poster viewing (Trade Area) for Clinical Urology III and IV. Coffee will be available.
- 1530–1700: Session 2: Moderated Poster presentations for Clinical Urology III and IV (two rooms running in parallel).
Presenters will be allowed two minutes presentation and two minutes for questions.
For the Translational Science stream, moderated poster session will be included as part of the main program on the afternoons of Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th August 2013.
For the Nursing & Allied Health Streams, there will be moderated poster viewing on Wednesday 7th August from 1730–1830, please prepare a four minute presentation and attend your poster between these times. A roving audience will listen to your four minute presentation beside your poster during this time.
Wednesday evening Poster Viewing & Cocktail Reception: 1730–1900. This popular session returns this year and allows delegates and industry to mix over refreshments while enjoying casual poster viewing. In addition, the top posters from each category will be announced and will be awarded their cash prizes (generously sponsored by Ipsen Pharmaceuticals).
Once again, welcome to Melbourne. We do hope you have a wonderful Congress and we look forward to your contribution.
