  1. IL28B Genotype Does Not Correlate with HIV Control in African Americans Volume 4, Issue 4, 282–284, Article first published online: 29 August 2011

It has recently come to our attention that the cohort case definition we used in our 2011 paper, “IL28B Genotype Does Not Correlate with HIV Control in African Americans” may be confusing to some. In this paper, in the Methods section we define the medium/high viral load (MHVL) cohort as “individuals with >20,000 HIV-1 RNA copies/mL in the absence of HAART.” We believe the following definition would be less confusing: MHVL are “individuals with >20,000 HIV-1 RNA copies/mL while off of HAART.” The baseline viral load of the patients in that cohort was >20,000 HIV-1 RNA copies/mL, whether or not they were on therapy at the time of the blood draw, and the new definition more accurately reflects this.
