Postscript: Elsewhere in this volume, a comment regarding a past editorial is presented, and a small public apology by yours truly is indicated. As has already been conveyed personally to Dr. Hurwitz, the commentary was not intended as a veiled insult of Professor Ackerman. As many colleagues know, I hold Bernie in high regard for moving our field forward out of the dark ages with his keen observation and incisive logic. When writing the piece, the intent was to allude, metaphorically, to an expansive spectrum—from East to West or from North Pole to South Pole, if you will—yet clearly the phrase ‘fanatical Ackerman clone’ can also be taken pejoratively. Thanks go to Dr. Hurwitz for his correspondence and the opportunity for clarification.
