He has advised BP, Lenovo, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble, SC Johnson, and the governments of Denmark, Hong Kong, and India about methods linking design and competitiveness. Whitney's research about digital media and learning is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
