      High abundances of cyanomyoviruses in marine ecosystems demonstrate ecological relevance (pages 223–234)

      The study demonstrates using a quantitative PCR (qPCR) approach that cyanomyoviruses are abundant in marine systems and are an important source of cyanobacterial mortality. Cyanomyoviruses are the most frequently isolated viruses that infect the ecologically important cyanobacteria Synechococcus and Prochlorococcus.
